Oregon State Police to crack down on impaired drivers

Oregon State Police say they will hit the highways this New Year's holiday as part of the national "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign.

The initiative is intended to curb deaths caused by intoxicated motorists. According to the Oregon Department of Transportation Fatality Analysis Reporting System, 12 people died statewide during the New Year's holiday period last year.

Police remind those celebrating New Year's to plan accordingly, have designated drivers, and monitor the car keys. A cab fare fund should be at the ready. For additional tips, visit www.oregon.gov/OSP.
