Oregon climate report predicts wildfire risk

A state climate report predicts that Oregon may face summer water shortages, an increased wildfire risk and more extreme weather events if temperatures keep warming up.

The report examines the potential social, physical and biological responses to an Oregon climate that may increase in average temperature by up to one degree Fahrenheit per decade through this century.

A key variable to will be global greenhouse gas emissions that will influence Oregon's future climate.

The report released today was written by about 70 researchers for the Oregon Climate Change Research Institute, based at Oregon State University.
