OLCC fines Ashland club

An Ashland dance club faces a penalty of $1,485 or a nine-day suspension of its liquor license because it failed to verify the age of a minor trying to buy alcohol, the state Liquor Control Commission says.

The Vinyl Club at 130 Will Dodge Way was ordered to pay the civil penalty or have its license suspended for failing to verify the age of a minor before allowing him to buy or be served an alcoholic beverage when he reasonably appeared to be under 26 years of age, according to an Oregon Liquor Control Commission press release.

The club was one of 12 bars served with a fine and/or suspension during a statewide blitz to curb alcohol sales to minors. It also was fined in 2005 for selling liquor to a minor during an OLCC sting. The club declined to serve an OLCC volunteer posing as a minor the following year.
