Obama in town today

You'd have to have been under a very large rock to have missed it earlier, but Sen. Barack Obama, a Democratic presidential candidate, is due in Medford this morning.

He is scheduled to make a 9:30 a.m. appearance at Kids Unlimited, 821 N. Riverside Ave. Free tickets for the event went quickly on Thursday.

The Mail Tribune plans extensive online coverage of Obama's visit today. Check our home page or visit www.mailtribune.com/obama.

On television, channels 5, 10 and 12 all plan live broadcasts of the town-hall meeting at Kids Unlimited. It is also scheduled to be broadcast live on public access Channel 15.

Medford police have been mum on which streets will be closed for Obama's motorcade, or how long traffic may be impacted, but the smart money's on avoiding the area around Kids Unlimited altogether.
