North celebration Tuesday

A ceremony and celebration are set Tuesday to mark renovations at the North Medford High School campus.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at the school, 1900 N. Keene Way Drive. Hamburgers and hotdogs will be served in the school's courtyard, and the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the renovations begins at 6:30 p.m. Cost of the food is $4 for adults and $3 for students.

Following the dedication ceremony, an open house is planned. Musical performances by the school's jazz and marching bands, orchestra, and choirs are scheduled around the campus. Treats prepared by the Culinary Arts Department will be available for sampling. Parents will be able to talk to teachers about the academic programs available to North Medford students.

Crews recently completed more than $33.5 million in renovations to the school, part of a 2006 bond measure that brought changes at many district schools.

North has a new library and five new classrooms, and the former library was converted into a student commons area. The cafeteria was expanded, and the auditorium got new seating and other improvements.
