No. 1 Baylor falls to Texas Tech

LUBBOCK, Texas — Texas Tech snapped No. 1 Baylor's 21-game win streak on Saturday with a 56-45 win.

Baylor last lost in November to Connecticut.

Casey Morris led Texas Tech (19-7, 6-6 Big 12) with 13 points.

The win evened a loss in Lubbock last year when Brittney Griner was ejected for punching a Texas Tech player.

Griner finished with 15 points and six rebounds to lead Baylor (24-2, 11-1), which finished with season lows in shooting (25.9 percent) and scoring. The Lady Bears averaged 81.7 points coming into the contest.

Texas Tech pressed early and often and stayed mostly with zone defense against Baylor.

Texas Tech led most of the game, going ahead 52-37 with 5:23 left when Kierra Mallard hit a jumper in the lane. Baylor used a 6-0 run that included a 3-pointer by Melissa Jones and a bucket by Odyssey Sims — her first of the game — to cut the deficit to 52-43.
