Traveling troubadours inspired by the work of Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Lee Hays and Mill Lampell will present a concert to raise money for a local social justice coalition.
"Totem Pole" Rik Palieri and George Mann perform at 7 tonight at the Grass Shack Hawaiian Cafe, 205 Fern Valley Road, Phoenix. A meet-and-eat event starts at 6 p.m.
A donation of $10 is suggested to attend, but no one will be turned away. Southern Oregon Jobs with Justice presents the show.
The money raised will go to Health Care for All Oregon and its campaign to bring comprehensive health care to all Oregonians.
A Klamath Bird Observatory birder will lead a walk along the Bear Creek Greenway to show birding hot spots at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, in Ashland.
Attendees should meet at the Northwest Nature Shop, 154 Oak St., Ashland, at 8 a.m. They will then carpool to the path.

The Jackson County Republican Women's Annual Reagan Barbecue Fundraiser and Auction will be held from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at the historic Hanley Farm on Highway 238 between Central Point and Jacksonville.
Elected officials and others who will be in attendance include State Reps. Dennis Richardson, Sal Esquivel, Mike McLane and Gail Whitsett; State Sens. Doug Whitsett and Herman Baertschiger; Medford City Councilors Karen Blair, Daniel Bunn and Eli Matthews; and members of U.S. Rep. Greg Walden's staff from the Medford office — Colby Marshall, John Howard and Troy Ferguson.
The cost is $30 per person in advance and $35 at the door.
The Jackson County Republican Women's group sponsors community events, including bi-partisan programs on the U.S. Constitution for high school seniors with elected officials participating and an essay contest for high school juniors and each year donates books to libraries for youths. JCRW owns and maintains a library with more than 200 books at the Jackson County Republican headquarters, 311 E. Main St., Medford.
