A local observance of World AIDS Day will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 1, at the Medford Congregational Church, 1801 E. Jackson St., Medford, featuring the Rogue Valley Gay Men's Chorus, Women With Wings, The Teen Theatre, Kurt Bernhardt, and Shawn Traub and friends. Bev Armstrong will speak. Admission is free.

A three-hour workshop, titled "Transform Fight or Flight or Freeze into Ease: Using Mindfulness to Relieve Stress and Anxiety," will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, in the Gresham Room of the Ashland Branch Library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd.

The Eagle Point Community Association will sponsor a Christmas tree-lighting, Santa's arrival and other events, beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at Bob Moore Park on Main Street.

Park events will include a tree-lighting, reading of 2011 "Memory Light" names, the arrival of Santa on a fire truck and a children's parade to the Community Center at City Hall. A food booth will be offered by the Eagle Point VFW.

At the Community Center, there will be holiday music, a canned food collection for ACCESS and photos of kids with Santa can be taken (bring your own camera).

A food booth will be operated by the Eagle Point Lions Club.
