New member elected to historical society board

James Lewis, former mayor of Jacksonville, has been elected to the board of trustees of the Southern Oregon Historical Society.

Lewis is president of the Rogue Valley Council of Governments and a parks and recreation commissioner for the city of Ashland. He is a graduate of the College of William and Mary and earned a law degree from Marshall-Wythe School of Law. He is a retired US. Navy captain who serves on the Jackson County Veterans Advisory Committee. He also served on Jacksonville's city council from 1986-2009.
