Music here, music there

Music is all around the valley today, and most of it is outdoors.

Get your jazz and a taste of recent bottlings this afternoon when guitar soloist Charles Guy performs jazz from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at RoxyAnn Winery, 3285 Hillcrest Road, Medford. The fare is $5, and wine and food are available for extra.

The music's free this afternoon at Medford First Nazarene Church, when Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon's Christopher Scherer, with guest artists, presents classical music by Wieniavsky, Beethoven and Mendelssohn. It begins at 4:30 p.m. at the church at 1974 E. McAndrews Road.

At Medford's Bear Creek Park tonight, the Mixers perform swing, jazz and West Coast jump blues at 7 p.m. in the amphitheater off Highland Drive. It's also free.

Finally, fans can take in Christian rock band Casting Crowns, with co-headliners MercyME and special guests 10th Avenue North, at 7 p.m. at Lithia Motors Amphitheatre at the Jackson County Exposition Park, 1 Peninger Road, at 7 p.m. Tickets go for $20 to $65 to hear the band that's the top-selling Christian artist of 2007, according to Billboard magazine.
