More from the world

A bigger-than-usual Medford Multicultural Fair is taking shape in the city's Hawthorne Park today.

Organizers expect close to 30 entertainment acts and more than 60 booths at the annual event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the park at 501 E. Main St. (get there from Jackson or Hawthorne streets as well). Admission is free.

This is the 15th annual event intended to highlight music, dance and theater from around the world and build community. Friends of the Multicultural Fair, the organization that runs the fair, hopes for attendance of about 10,000, about double last year's.
