Memorial Day events abound

As a part of the May 30 Memorial Day Celebration at the Fallen Heroes War Memorial at Don Jones Park, the combined Central Point and Medford Garden Clubs will place a Blue Star Marker beginning at 9 a.m. and ending at 10 a.m.

A Blue Star Marker is a tribute to military members who have protected and continue to protect the freedoms Americans enjoy today.

The memorial and park are located on Hamrick Road next to the old cemetery in Central Point.

It's one of numerous Memorial Day events today.

Ashland honors fallen veterans at at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 30, at Mountain View Cemetery, Ashland Street and Normal Avenue, Ashland, with speeches, music by the Southern Oregon Concert Band, prayers and the Pledge of Allegiance.

A ceremony at 11 a.m. at Eagle Point National Cemetery, 2763 Riley Road, Eagle Point, includes speeches, a National Guard F-15 fly-over, a color guard, rifle salute, "Taps" serenade and Civil War re-enactment. Patriotic music will be performed by the Southern Oregon Scottish Bagpipe Band.

The 12th annual White City Memorial Day Parade will be at 1:30 p.m. along Antelope and Division roads to Burns Park, which will hose food, games, vendors and live music from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
