Meditation Works gets Avista grant

Medford-based Mediation Works has received a $2,500 grant from the Avista Foundation to support the ChoicePoint and Peer Mediation programs in Jackson County schools.

The programs are designed to model and teach effective conflict management skills.

Anne Golden, executive director of Mediation Works, said the programs provide students with tools to address the problems of social aggression, isolation and bullying.

"By bringing the programs into the schools, and after-school and summer programs, we provide opportunities for students to understand the role and choices that peers and bystanders have when they encounter bullying and other forms of peer-to-peer conflict," Golden said in a press release.
