Medford school attendance dips again

Attendance at Medford schools dipped to 47 percent today, down slightly from 49 percent Tuesday and Wednesday, school district officials reported.

The district said 5,685 students out of 12,113 came to school on the seventh day of classes since teachers went on strike Feb. 6. High school students walked out of classes today to express their frustration with the strike.

Classes resumed Feb. 11 with substitute teachers and half-day schedules. Since then attendance has ranged from a high of 68 percent on the first day to a low of 44 percent last Friday.
