Medford police are asking for help identifying a man they think might know something about a fire that charred about an acre in the the 2600 block of North Pacific Highway behind Pet Country on Wednesday.
The fire started just after 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, on property that is owned by Sierra Pine, but is frequented by homeless people who camp there, police said. Investigators have determined that the fire was human caused.
Investigators have compiled witness statements and video surveillance indicating a man seen in the area might have information about the fire, police said in a news release today.
Police said the man isn't a suspect, but investigators want to talk to him.
Authorities are asking the public to help identify or locate the man. He is described as a white man in his mid 50s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall with a stocky build and reddish hair. Surveillance photos show him wearing a black baseball cap, tank top and shorts, and riding a mountain bike.
