Medford? July? Hot? But of course, forecasters say

Things are heating up out at the Jackson County Fairgrounds, as well as across the rest of the region.

Forecasts call for daytime highs to reach the mid 90s today and Friday and climb to triple digits by Saturday. A top temperature of 103 is expected on Saturday.

The forecast issued by the Medford office of the National Weather Service described the temperatures as "seasonable" and said the heat likely won't break any records.

The heat could combine with moisture moving in off the coast of California to bring a chance of thunderstorms to the region by Sunday, forecasters said. The mountains of Northern California could begin to see lightning on Sunday and heavy rain in the storms is possible.
