Medford duplex fire causes significant roof damage

A duplex fire on the 800 block of West 12th Street early Tuesday morning resulted in significant damage to the roof, along with smoke and water damage to the interior, Medford Fire and Rescue officials said.

No one was injured in the fire, which was called in at 3:46 a.m. today and took about 30 minutes to extinguish.

Five engines and 18 Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the fire and had some difficulty reaching the attic portion of the blaze coming off a nearby shed. An older roof had been left on the building when the newer roof was installed, which ended up delaying firefighters attempting to gain attic access.

The fire's cause is still under investigation.
