Man stabbed in overnight fight in east Medford, police say

A man was stabbed when a fight broke out at a house on Bessie Street early this morning, Medford police said.

Officers were called to a house in the 300 block of Bessie Street just before 3 a.m. The caller reported a stabbing, Lt. Bob Hansen said in a news release.

A fight broke out among visitors to the home and one man was stabbed multiple times, Hansen's report said. The victim was taken to a local hospital and a suspect was taken into custody, police said.

Police haven't released any names yet, and the investigation is ongoing. There are no indications that the stabbing is gang related, Hansen said.

Police will release additional information later.
