Man found shot in Medford

An unidentified man was shot multiple times near the intersection of Prune Street and South Columbus Avenue in Medford at around 10 p.m Monday.

Medford Police responded to a call of shots fired near the Woodland Heights Market and found a man lying on the ground bleeding shortly afterward. The victim was transported to a local hospital said Medford Police Lt. Tim Doney.

Doney did not say whether the incident was gang-related, but said that the Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement task force was investigating the incident. He also said Medford Police and Jackson County sheriff's personnel had cordoned off the area and were searching it with K-9 units.

Multiple neighbors said they heard gunshots in the area and saw a young man running east along Prune Street toward South Columbus Avenue. Some neighbors also said they heard and saw the man who had been shot screaming before he fell or collapsed near the mini mart parking lot after running out into South Columbus Avenue.
