Man dies in early-morning crash near Gold Hill

A single-car crash on Lampman Road outside Gold Hill killed a man and left a woman with minor injuries early this morning, the Jackson County Sheriff's Department reported.

The crash was reported at 4:13 a.m. today and the sheriff's department and Medford police responded to the scene on Lampman Road near the Garden Row intersection.

Investigators said the driver, whose name wasn't released pending notification of his family, apparently lost control of his 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass while driving southbound on Lampman Road.

The car rolled, ejecting the driver and pinning him to the ground, the sheriff's department said in a news release. A Gold Hill woman who was a passenger remained in the car and suffered only minor injuries. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation by an interagency response team is ongoing.
