Lure the family out with a movie in a park

As darkness falls, big screens across the Rogue Valley will light up.

In Ashland, catch the buzz of “Akeelah and the Bee,” a favorite family movie about spelling, on Oak Knoll Golf Course, 3070 Highway 66 at dusk tonight as part of a summer outdoor movie series. Get in some putting practice or a shot at the driving range with golf games for children starting at 7:30 p.m. All activities are free.

Bring the whole family to Pfaff Park at Sixth and Manzanita streets, in Central Point for a film and other fun. Free activities in the park kick off at 5:30 p.m. with the Friday Night Summer Festival, a selection of musical entertainment, and booths selling crafts, jewelry, art, plants and food. Then, as dusk falls, about 9 p.m., “Yours, Mine and Ours,” a PG movie about a wacky blended family, will be shown.
