Lost group mostly from out of area

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department has identified the six people rescued early Thursday after they became lost near the Oregon/California border.

The six were Brandon Loke, 18, John Gilmour, 20, Vanessa Taylor, 29, Jacob Barnum, 18, John Lafreniere, 20 and Avery Lewis, 22.

Only Lewis is a resident of Southern Oregon, said sheriff's office spokeswoman Andrea Carlson, who did not have specifics on his address.

Jackson County search and rescue workers found the group after they became lost for more than two days near the Oregon/California border.

The six had set out Monday for a drive in the country, got lost, turned around and then ran out of gas, said Carlson.

All were in good condition when searchers found them in the snow near Dutchman's Peak west of Mount Ashland, she said.
