Local musicians raise $4,000 for Japanese earthquake relief

More than $4,000 was raised for the Southern Oregon American Red Cross Japan earthquake relief effort in a jazz concert on Sunday, March 27.

The fundraiser was organized by local musician Tom Stamper and Lee's Cuisine of Ashland, who partnered to bring four jazz bands together for the "Jazz for Japan" event. Bands included The Modern Prometheus Jazz Company, The Siskiyou Jazz Project, The Paul Schmeling Trio featuring Danielle Kelly on vocals, and the The Dal Carver Trio featuring Gwen Herbert. All proceeds will go directly to Japan earthquake relief efforts.
