Local gas prices higher than state, national averages

The average price of gas in the Medford and Ashland area is higher than the state average, which, while dropping, is still above the national average, the AAA auto club reports.

AAA reports the average price of a gallon of gasoline in Oregon is $3.93. That's down 3 cents in a week. It's still 9 cents higher than the national average, 5 cents higher than the state average a month ago and $1 higher than a year ago.

In the Medford-Ashland metro area, the average price for a gallon of regular gas is listed at $3.998. Like the statewide numbers, it's down 3 cents in a week, up 5 cents from a month ago and up $1 from a year ago.

Other metro prices around Oregon in the AAA's Monday survey:

Portland $3.90, Salem $3.89, Eugene-Springfield $3.91.
