Open burning will be prohibited inside of Jackson County's air quality maintenance area from Nov. 1 through Feb. 28. As a result of cold weather with strong temperature inversions and generally poor atmospheric ventilation, Jackson County prohibits all open burning inside of the area during the winter months. Areas outside of the specified area will be allowed to continue open burning on days when the ventilation index is determined by the National Weather Service to be adequate.
The air quality maintenance area extends from north of Eagle Point and through the Bear Creek valley floor to Ashland.
Those outside the restricted area wishing to burn should call 541-776-7007 to determine if is burning is allowed on that day.
