Library gets money for children's reading programs

Jackson County Library Services received a $28,000 Ready to Read Grant for literacy programming, including Babies in the Library and enhanced summer reading programs.

The Ready to Read Grant was established by the Oregon Legislature in 1993 to assist local libraries in helping children achieve state benchmarks for childhood learning and development.

In addition to Babies in the Library and summer reading programs, the grant will be used for Wobblers in the Library, purchases of books and puppets for Outreach to Childcare and children's books for the collection.
