Liberty Park opening ceremony set for Saturday

Liberty Park, Medford's newest city park, will open with a ceremony and activities at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb.

The Medford Parks and Recreation Department will offer games and childrens activities, and Rex, the department's mascot, will appear.

At roughly a quarter acre, Liberty Park offers a play structure, restroom, picnic shelter, benches, walking path and landscaping at the corner of Maple and Bartlett streets. It is Medford's 20th park and the sixth new park opened since 2005.

Funding assistance for this project was provided through a property and cash donation from Lithia Motors as well as a grant through the Community Development Block Grant Program. Playcraft, owned by Kurt Krauss, donated towards the children play equipment.
