It's rodeo time at the Expo

The rodeo comes to town tonight, launching a weekend-long series of cowboy shows and related events.

Wild Rogue Pro Rodeo shows are set at 7 tonight through Saturday at the Jackson County Fairgrounds, 1 Peninger Road, Central Point. Admission is $13 in advance and $15 at the gate tonight; ticket booths open at 4:30 p.m.

Events such as bull riding, steer wrestling, barrel racing and roping are part of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association-sanctioned event.

Kids will enjoy free pony and wagon rides, free mutton busting, face painting and more. The pro rodeo queen and princess will be on hand, along with performances by the Wild Rogue Pro Rodeo Drill team and J D Platt’s K-9 Kings Flying Dog Show. For the first time, carnival rides also will be open at the fairgrounds during the rodeo.

The rodeo will be held alongside the 4-H and Future Farmers of American Spring Fair Friday-Sunday at the fairgrounds, with a buyer’s barbecue and livestock auction at 2 p.m. Sunday.
