It's official: PHS band is getting new uniforms

The Phoenix High School band got the official word that it will get a $25,000 grant from Pepsi for new uniforms.

Student musicians have already started shopping for new uniforms and would like to step out in the updated fashions at the Pear Blossom Parade, said Sheri Croy, publicity coordinator for PHS Band Boosters.

The band has narrowed its selection down to three designs. Once the uniforms are ordered, it can take six months or more for the custom-made items to arrive.

Pepsi "Refresh" grants provide funds for community projects chosen online by Pepsi drinkers. All told the Pepsi Refresh project funds 60 ideas: 10 at $50,000, 15 at $25,000, 15 at $10,000 and 20 at $5,000. The Phoenix band proposal was in the $25,000 category.
