It's not just us: Northwest's hot all over today

PORTLAND — It's seeming more like Arizona than the Pacific Northwest with temperatures climbing in Portland, Seattle and elsewhere in the region.

Portland is expected to reach a high of 105 both today and on Wednesday. That's not far off from the all-time record of 107 degrees hit most recently in August 1981.

In Seattle, the temperature is expected to hit the mid-90s today with even hotter weather to follow.

The National Weather Service says the temperature could hit 103 degrees south and east of Seattle on Wednesday.

Cooling centers are open late throughout the Portland metro area, and the city of Seattle extended hours for the International Fountain, where hundreds of people soaked in the changing sprays timed to recorded music.
