Iranian activist speaks at SOU

An Iranian man who helped organize student uprisings there in July 1999 will talk about his experiences tonight at Southern Oregon University.

Amnesty International and SOU's United Nations Club present a discussion by Reza Mohajerinejad, activist and author of “Live Generation: Iran's 1999 Student Uprising,” at 6 p.m. in the Rogue River Room of the Stevenson Union, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland.

Mohajerinejad tells his story of uprising, protests and the suffering of Iran's students in their quest for a free, secular democracy. He explains the political, economic and social conditions in Iran now and how Americans can aid his imprisoned country peacefully and give hope to the many thousands of political prisoners without war.

SOU professor of anthropology James Phillips will speak about other human rights efforts.

This event is free and open to the public.
