Horizon adds L.A. flight

Horizon Air will add a second daily flight between Medford and Los Angeles next month.

Flights from Medford and Los Angeles will depart at 12:20 p.m. and arrive at 2:30 p.m. at both airports. The airline already has an L.A. flight that leaves the Rogue Valley at 6:50 a.m. and returns to Medford at 11:05 p.m.

"We expect more summer adjustments in April and May," said Airport Director Bern Case.

Horizon announced several other changes as well today, primarily focusing on Montana, California and Idaho as well as the cities of Reno, Nev., and Portland.

The Seattle-based regional airline said it is permanently discontinuing nonstop service between Eugene and Redmond. A flight that is currently routed Eugene-Redmond-Los Angeles will instead operate nonstop between Redmond and Los Angeles. The airline is also halting its two daily nonstop flights between Portland and Long Beach.

Case said United Express has indicated it will add a second daily flight from Medford to Denver in May. Allegiant Air will add a third weekly flight to Los Angeles and doubling its weekly service to Las Vegas with two more flights, he said.
