Great Meadows opens for snowmobiling

The Great Meadows Sno-Park on Highway 140 is now open to snowmobilers.

Great Meadows Sno-Park in the Fremont-Winema National Forest is a favorite place for snowmobilers, cross country skiers, snowshoers and kite boarders alike, forest officials said. The 165 miles of groomed trails surrounding Great Meadows are well-suited for beginners through experts. The park is located 30 miles east of Medford and 35 miles west of Klamath Falls.

A Sno-Park permit is required, and must be appropriately displayed, to use the Great Meadows Sno-Park. Seasonal permits are on sale for $25, three day permits for $9 or day use permits for $4. Resorts, sporting goods stores and other retail outlets may charge an additional service fee for each permit they sell.

Events take place throughout the winter that fill up the parking area and everyone's cooperation and patience when looking for a place to park and play, forest officials said.
