Grants Pass man arrested on sex abuse charges

A Grants Pass man is in jail on sex abuse charges stemming from alleged abuse of a 10-year-old boy, Oregon State Police reported.

Frans Gebhard, 64, of the 2000 block of Ben Aire Circle, was arrested at 3 p.m. Monday at his home on two counts each of first- and second-degree sex abuse. He was lodged in the Josephine County Jail, where he remains today on $50,000 bail.

OSP officials declined to comment on Gebhard's relationship to the boy, but said he knew the juvenile. The abuse allegedly had been going on for the past two years, police said. Detectives started investigating Gebhard Feb. 13 after a report alleging abuse. There is no known evidence pointing to additional victims, police said.

The Josephine County District Attorney's Office was not immediately available for additional comment.
