Grants Pass-area man faces drug, firearms charges

A convicted methamphetamine cook is due back in a Josephine County court where he faces close to a dozen drug and firearms charges after police raided his Grants Pass home last week.

Police arrested Ricky Howard Mazza, 48, during a May 18 search of his Bower Lane home in rural Grants Pass that netted about 1.25 pounds of methamphetamine, an ounce of marijuana, two handguns, a stun gun, 52 edged weapons and more than $3,900 cash, police said.

He was arraigned Thursday on 11 drug and weapons charges in Josephine County Circuit Court.

Mazza remained Monday in the Josephine County Jail without bail, authorities said.

A bail hearing was scheduled for June 3, court records show.

Mazza has a 2007 conviction in Josephine County for manufacturing of methamphetamine, for which he received a 10-month prison sentence, according to court records.

Mazza has a history of drug and forgery convictions in Josephine County that date back to 1993, according to court records.

Mazza was arrested by members of the Rogue Area Drug Enforcement team, called RADE.
