Gold Hill community garden looking for volunteer manager

The manager of the Gold Hill Community and ACCESS Food Share gardens, Curt Shuler, is stepping down after six years at the post and ACCESS is now recruiting for his volunteer replacement.

ACCESS officials are looking for people who support organic growing practices, wish to share their knowledge and can manage the day-to-day operations of the vegetable garden for ACCESS.

ACCESS will provide training and support, seeds, starts and other necessary materials for the garden.

The produce grown on site is donated to the emergency food relief pantry operated by ACCESS at the Gold Hill Christian Center Church. Area residents who volunteer at the garden also are encouraged to take produce home.

In the last three years, the operation has donated more than 83,600 pounds of fresh produce.
