Fuego nets win over Klamath in friendly

There were shots aplenty for the Southern Oregon Fuego during Saturday night's soccer friendly with Klamath United, it just took awhile for them to find the net.

The Fuego scored five of its six goals in the final 33 minutes of play to push past Klamath, 6-1, at U.S. Cellular Community Park.

Rodrigo Ramos got the scoring going early on a breakaway inside the first minute of play, but Southern Oregon failed to convert again until Ahmad Aljoaid tallied in the 57th minute off an assist by Brian Avila.

Things heated up after that, with Ramos scoring again in the 65th minute and Avila adding two straight goals in the 70th and 87th minutes, the former coming off an assist by Corey Fisher.

Klamath United, a club team in Klamath Falls comprised of former Oregon Tech and other men's league players, broke through for its lone goal in the 88th minute by Devin Torrey.

Matt Eck capped the scoring in the 91st minute during stoppage time off an assist by Avila.

Gabriel Anaya contributed eight saves for the Fuego, which plays host to the Sacramento Gold at 7 p.m. next Saturday at Spiegelberg Stadium. Sacramento leads the National Premier Soccer League's Northwest Division with a 4-0-1 record, while the Fuego stands 0-5.
