Freeway traffic rerouted tonight

Northbound traffic on Interstate 5 will face an overnight detour at the Seven Oaks interchange tonight, Oregon Department of Transportation reported.

From 10 p.m. today until 5 a.m. Wednesday, traffic will be rerouted up and over the interchange at exit 35 while crews remove temporary scaffolding that was used in the construction of a new bridge. Traffic will be taken off at exit 35, routed down Highway 99, and back onto I-5 at Exit 30, the north Medford interchange, ODOT officials said.

From 10 p.m. Wednesday until 5 a.m. Thursday, southbound traffic will be rerouted on the same detour to remove supports from that side of the freeway.

Once the temporary supports, known as falsework, are removed, height restrictions will no longer be in effect on the freeway.

Transportation officials advise drivers to watch for a reduced speed limit of 55 mph in the work zone, and flaggers and equipment entering and leaving the work site.
