Free tax help available

Free income tax preparation and electronic filing for low or moderate income taxpayers of any age is offered by volunteers for AARP and the IRS starting Feb. 1 and ending April 18, 2011.

Participants do not have to be an AARP member for the services. All are first-come, first-served except for the Medford Senior Center which needs appointments.

Sessions will be held:

Ashland Pioneer Hall, 73 Winburn Way, Monday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Wednesday, 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Rogue Valley Mall, 1600 N. Riverside Ave., Medford, Lower Level near Macy's entrance, Tuesday and Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Thursday, noon to 4 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Medford Senior Center, 510 E. Main St., Medford, Monday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., appointment only.

Phoenix Library, 510 W. First St., Phoenix, Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Rogue Family Center, 3131 Ave. C, White City, Tuesday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to noon.

Upper Rogue Community Center, 22465 Highway 66, Shady Cove, Friday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Talent Library, 101 Homes St., Talent, Thursday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

United Church of Christ, 1801 E Jackson St., Medford, Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Participants must arrive at least 45 minutes before closing and bring a picture ID, Social Security card, 2009 tax return and all income and expense records needed to file 2010's return.
