Former president takes stage at North

Former President Bill Clinton took the stage at North Medford High School this afternoon in a campaign stop for his wife, Hillary, a Democratic hopeful for president.

Clinton began speaking at about 5:30 p.m., an hour later than his scheduled appearance on his first Oregon stop before heading to Portland, Bend and Salem on Monday.

He thanked several prominent Southern Oregon Democrats and then told the crowd he was glad to return to Oregon in support of his wife.

"I like it here," he said.

The North gymnasium, with a capacity of about 3,000, was not quite filled for Clinton's visit.

The speech is being carried live on television channels 5, 10 and 12. The Mail Tribune will have full coverage of Clinton's visit in Monday's paper. Photo galleries and a video of speech highlights will be available at later tonight.
