Female World War II pilot speaks

A woman who served as an Air Force pilot during World War II speaks this afternoon in White City as part of Women's Equality Day.

The talk by Kay Gott-Chaffey is set from 1 to 3 p.m. in the theater of the Department of Veterans Affairs' Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center and Clinics.

Gott-Chaffey is a veteran of Women Air Force Service Pilots and will recall her experiences as a woman in an occupation where men of her generation were considered brave and women were expected to fail.

Women's Equality Day commemorates the 87th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution giving women the right to vote.
