Fall weather is about to end

A string of picture-perfect autumn days will become a distant memory as the Rogue Valley transitions to rainy weather.

"It's pretty much the beginning of the end," said Brian Nieuwenhuis, meterologist with the National Weather Service in Medford. "The wet season begins."

On Sunday, a weak low-pressure system from the north blew out the high-pressure system that had dominated the valley for the past month.

Only 1/100 of an inch of rain fell at the Medford airport as the storm blew in and out quickly.

Temperatures that had hovered in the 70s during the day will give way to highs in the 50s and 60s through the week before the big change begins.

"On Friday night through Saturday, it should get a lot wetter and a lot windier," Nieuwenhuis said.
