Fair free on its final day

Today is the final day of the Jackson County Fair, so if you've yet to experience your fill of elephant ears and pig pens, it's time to get out to Central Point.

The fair is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (7 p.m. for the carnival) at the fairgrounds at 1 Peninger Road, Central Point, and admission is free today for everyone.

Parking at the fairgrounds is $4, or hop a shuttle bus from Food 4 Less on Biddle Road in Medford or Crater High School in Central Point. Buses run every half hour from 10:30 a.m., and the cost is $1.

Today's act at the adjacent Lithia Motors Amphitheatre is the family-friendly Nickelodeon Concert Tour featuring Dora the Explorer and SpongeBob SquarePants. Tickets to the 45-minute shows at 1 and 4 p.m. are $4, and kids can have their photos taken with SpongeBob and Dora at the fairgrounds all day.
