Expo heeds call of the wild

They're talking hunting and fishing and all sorts of outdoor pursuits all day today during the ninth annual Jackson County Sportsmen's and Outdoor Recreation Show.

It's from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Jackson County Exposition Park, 1 Peninger Road, Central Point. Admission is $5 for adults, $1 for children 6 to 11 and free for the youngest set.

A 400-pound Bengal tiger, a leopard and other predators are on display at the show, which also features a 30-foot display of skin-mounted salmon, a display of world-record sets of deer antlers and seminars on all sorts of outdoor pursuits.

More than 100 vendors will be on hand to sell outdoor and recreational sports gear and equipment.

The show typically draws about 13,000 people in its three-day run, which ends Sunday.
