Ethan Jostad Foundation gets $20,000 grant

The Ethan Jostad Foundation of Eagle Point was among 196 charities nationally, and four in Oregon, selected to receive a share of $5 million in grants from Chase. The local foundation will receive $20,000.

Ethan Jostad Foundation supports families of children with cancer with financial assistance, raises awareness of childhood cancer and funds research to help find a cure. It was founded by the parents of Ethan Jostad, who contracted cancer in 2009 at the age of 7 and died in 2011.

The funding is part of Chase Community Giving, which through the Chase foundation has given out more than $20 million to 500 charities since 2009. Chase customers and employees nominated nearly 30,000 charities to be considered for this year's awards.
