ESPN sports returns to AM 580

ESPN sports radio returns to the Rogue Valley Friday on the same frequency (KTMT-AM 580) it was last heard here in April 2005.

Mapleton Communications' Radio Medford will drop the Spanish-language programming that ended ESPN's 10-year run, leaving a sports talk radio void for nearly two years before rival Opus Broadcasting switched to Fox Sports Radio Network on KEZX (730-AM).

Radio Medford General Manager Joe Mussio said ESPN radio complements this six-station group's high school and college sports programming.

KTMT already carries Ashland High School football and basketball, but Mussio said the station will air Major League Baseball playoff games and other game coverage provided by ESPN radio.
