Drive benefits homeless youth

A food and clothing drive organized by Jackson County Democrats begins Thursday.

The organization asks donors to drop off food and clothing from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, through Wednesday, Dec. 22, at party headquarters at 40 S. Central Ave.

Donated items will be given to the Maslow Project, a resource center for homeless and at-risk homeless youth, organizers said.

Organizers of the drive are looking for the following: non-perishable food; snacks such as granola bars; used or new hats, scarves, gloves, mittens, coats, warm clothing and new underwear and socks; and sleeping bags.
