County has nearly $1 million left over from library project

About $800,000 left over from construction of county libraries will go into a fund to pay down library debt service.

County commissioners approved the transfer of funds today, county Administrator Danny Jordan announced in a news release. He noted that the library projects were completed under budget.

The money being transferred is dedicated funds and cannot be used for library services such as extending library hours, buying more books or adding other library programs.

In 2000, Jackson County residents voted for a $38.9 million bond measure to rebuild 14 library branches.
