Council will hear about costly 62 bypass

The plan to build a $100 million, 3.5-mile road so drivers can get around crowded parts of Highway 62 in north Medford comes to the City Council today.

The council will discuss the Highway 62 bypass proposal at a study session in the Medford Room at City Hall, 411 W. Eighth St. The meeting is open to the public.

The project would begin just east of Poplar Drive and create a two-lane highway running roughly along the old Medco Haul Road to just south of White City.

It must begin by 2013 to qualify for a share of state funding available under transportation legislation.
