Circus science showcased

Be amazed by the science behind circus-style fun at ScienceWorks Hands-on Museum this week.

From noon to 2 p.m., Jill Fjeldheim, who has performed nationally and internationally with companies including the American Mime Theatre and Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, will teach people how to juggle and walk on stilts, while explaining the science behind these amazing feats.

On Friday catch a puppet show and learn how to make balloon animals with Sassy Cassie, a professionally trained clown.

Over the weekend, Rhys Thomas mixes juggling, comedy and science facts at three shows.

It’s all part of the museum’s summer science and fun festivals. See for more information or call 482-6767.

The museum is at 1500 E. Main St., Ashland. It’s open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $7.50, $5 for children ages 2 to 12 and seniors over 65.
